So if you ever wanted to become the owner of a one off handmade Pashley bicycle from Stratford-Upon-Avon, here’s your chance. Although if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s always a Welsh accordion, driftwood furniture from Northumberland or fantastical glass sculptures hand-blown in Lancashire. Those who are passionate about local food produce will not be disappointed either, with Busy Britain collecting everything from world famous kippers from Craster, Cheddar matured down a mineshaft in Wales and Wiltshire grown chillies.

The UK’s only vegetable orchestra will also make an appearance, providing an outstanding performance from their carved out greens, while complimentary British specialities are set to be served up by Arnold and Henderson.

In just five days, curators Carrie and Clare, from the Made in the Shade craft website, scoured the length of the country from the Isle of Mull to London, finding some of the greatest independent gems. The festival welcomes the Icelandic icon to Manchester, who will present her most ambitious and exciting work to date, answering the question, ‘Where do music, nature and technology meet?’.

The multi-media project entitled Biophilia, incorporates music, apps, internet, installations and live shows. Which in turn, aims to contribute a celebration of how sound works in nature, exploring the infinite expanse of the universe, its planetary systems and the tiny atom structures.

For a three week residency, Bjork will be performing six intimate shows at Campfield Market Hall, playing host to her first UK dates in over three years. The performances will feature brand new tracks from Bjork’s forthcoming album Biophilia, as well as music from her boundary-blurring back catalogue.

Accompanied by unique musical collaborators, the show will also feature some specially adapted and crafted instruments. A bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ, a thirty foot pendulum that harnesses the Earth’s gravitational pull to create musical patterns, a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid and a pin barrel harp are all prepared for the show, raring to reflect the physical processes that are subject matter to the tracks.

Following the Manchester premiere, the Biophilia live show will travel to major cities around the world. This will see a collaboration with Manchester International Festival, who will be working with young people in Manchester to explore the musicological and scientific ideas behind the project, in a series of unique workshops.

Having grown up reading Mr. Men books team Fused has spent most of the day on the Google homepage as they celebrate the iconic Mr. Men and Little Miss gang by featuring them as their Google Doodle. The 16 new images, featuring Mr Rush, Mr Bump Mr. Tickle, Little Miss Sunshine and co. are all based on Hargreaves’ creations and will be the most doodle designs ever displayed by Google in a single day!

Commemorating the birth date of late creator Roger Hargreaves, the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters have taken over the famous Google global homepage as the brand celebrates its milestone 40th anniversary.

There will even be behind-the-scenes peaks at the lives of some of Britain’s favourite characters as the Mr. Men and Little Misses embrace social media.

It’s a matter of opinion how cool DJs look with their mixing decks, headphones and time controlling fingers pushing buttons and switches, but there’s now a whole new question to be posed if they get their hands on a Tonium Pacemaker. It’s been coming for years, with gadget and DJ magazines holding their breath for this literally revolutionary piece of DJing equipment. As DJ Richie Hawtin said, “This will be to dance music what guitars were to rock n roll.”

So what is it exactly? Taking the best of an ipod-the ease in which to access 15,000 songs, and the tools of a mixing deck-the cue point settings, the EQ stabilising, the beatmatching, the recording and mixing capability, they are combined into 6×2x0.8 inches of black machinery that obliterates the reliance on standing at a deck all night getting back ache from crouching over. For amateurs and professionals alike, this is the kind of gadget that the smartest will get first, and the trailers will soon realise they need to have.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Resembling a mini mixing deck, the two circular areas each have a different function. The top one being the screen so you know what’s going on, and the bottom touchpad allowing you to determine what to do. As their website says, you are *only limited by your own imagination.” Meaning this is not a machine you can blame for your poor skills should you mess up and get away with it. With up to 15 hours of play time, and 5 of mixing time, the award winning product means you can DJ anywhere, anytime and for any circumstance.

Retailing at £369, here at Fused we’re giving you the opportunity to win one and realise your Pete Tong dream. Email your answer, name, age, date of birth and address to competitions@fusedmagazine.com by 12 noon on the 14th August 2009.
