It has been a busy old year for The Charlatans’ front man Tim Burgess but he managed to take a few minutes out from touring the UK to tell us what he got up to in 2006.

The song I’ve heard recently and thought ‘I wish I'd wrote that’:
CSS – Lets Make Love And Listen To Death From Above.

The most famous person I've met:
Michael Douglas. He Was Amazing!!

Strangest brush with celebrity this year was:
Meeting, hanging out with, and becoming friends with, the Mighty Boosh.

My most overused phrase:
Amayyyzing.

What made me laugh?
The Charlatans’ tour of America this year. It was the most fun I have ever had in the history of the group. It shouldn’t have been either because there were 15 people on the bus driving for up to 18 hour journeys for three weeks solid. It was a riot.

My favourite Joke is:
How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?

Highlights for 2006:
Alan McGee becoming our manager. Scoring a goal on Soccer AM.

The record that will always get me on the dance floor is:
Town Called Malice – The Jam.

My finest moment when intoxicated:
Was deciding to get sober.

I’ve used the line: "Do you know who I am?" To get into:
A Paris Hilton signing session in Vegas! I said I am Tim Burgess from The Chavs. They let me in ...said ‘I was hot!!’ And Paris loved us.

The best rumour I've heard about myself is:
I am an Alien.

Best gig I’ve ever seen was:
The Pogues. Brixton, 1986 on St Patrick’s Day.

Now I live in L.A do I bump into Lemmy much at The Rainbow bar?
Yeah of course he is always there.

The best memory from a Charlatans gig:
The Stage invasions.

The best track on the Forever album:
It changes…but I really love ‘Can’t Get Out of Bed' for today.

What's new for 2007?
Write in Jan/Feb, record in March/April, single May, album August.

‘Forever: The Singles’ by The Charlatans is out now.
PATJ01 Poppy and the Jezebels The new darlings of indie grrl teenage pop-rock infuse saccharine sweet cockey-type vocals doused in marching piano riffs. Generation X may have grown up with the onslaught of T.V...
theripps02 The Ripps have landed I’m from Nuneaton; it’s not as bad as it sounds - all my friends are wildly good looking super-models who all work as fashion photographers, and everybody walks around whistling and smiling to themselves.
JLewis Juliette Lewis Anyone with a penchant for cult film will know the slow, sexy Californian voice of Juliette Lewis, whose accent is cooler than a Horrors haircut. Fans of modern bands with a loyalty to modern rock ‘n’ roll will know it too.

UMP3 Untitled Musical Project Erupting, angry vocals decorated with nostalgic guitar riffs from the 70’s the Untitled Musical Project are like three small boys, drunk on the sound of their own heartbeat.
brakes5 The Brakes I reckon the reason why there are so many bands in Brighton is that like any holiday resort it becomes incredibly depressing over the winter months. Think about it, in the summer there’s loads to do, donkey rides, ice-cream, volleyball...
