Disco punk band Robots in Disguise (aka Dee Plume and Sue Denim) have teamed up with makeup mogul Barry M to produce their latest single and very own lipstick after the robots decided to write a song dedicated to the vivid cosmetics.
The girls wear the makeup on and off stage so when they saw the 2009 advert featuring a guitarist wearing the makeup it gave them the idea to write a song dedicated to Barry M. The robots decided to tell Barry M about their song, ‘Wake Up’, and the people at Barry M couldn’t resist the collaboration.
Dean Mero from Barry M said:
“When we met the girls they wowed us… and we agreed right there and then to be involved”.
Barry M have financed the video for the single and created a new lipstick, inspired by the song, called ‘Robot Blue’ which perfectly compliments the bands quirky style.
The video features a flying 6ft tall version of the exclusive lipstick.
The single ‘Wake Up’ was released on itunes on the 19th April and the Robot Blue lipstick is available exclusively from Barry M.
Plume and Denim have had 5 million hits on YouTube as Robots in Disguise and are also known as their alter egos The Electro and Goth Girls on the BBC 2 comedy Mighty Boosh.
Known for their eccentric on-stage presence and outrageous costumes the robots are the original Lady Gaga’s of the disco punk world. The bands 4th album is currently at a stand still with no financial backing. The robots are asking fans to donate to the making of the album, with some of the proceedings going to the Alzheimers Society. You can donate to receive anything from exclusive merchandise to a private performance at Pledge Music.
