For anyone who remembers the SNES, and nostalgically thinks of Ryu kicking Blanka’s ass in Brazil; for anyone who smiles fondly on hearing the word ‘hadouken’, conjuring up images of the days of yore, rather than images of a band who seem to have been attacked by rebel highlighters; for anyone who has transferred their love of electronics from classic consoles to decks and mp3s, this is for you.

Capcorn’s Street Fighter is coinciding the release of its latest instalment Street Fighter IV, with original, fully-mastered vocal, FX and music taken from the 2nd and most successful edition of cult game. The samples are available for DJ’s and producers to play with and work with to their hearts content.

The first lady of video games and feminist groundbreaker Chun-Li could be speaking at a club near you in the not too distant future, how exciting is that… ok it will only be the sound of her high pitched scream between tracks, lightning kicking some meagre opponent from here to Chinatown, but surely that is a subliminal message of women defending themselves against oppressive male dominance… she’s a cooler heroine than Germaine Greer anyway.

The samples will also be laid down on limited edition coloured battle vinyl, bringing back the 80’s vibe, and only available from selected independent stockists around the UK, in Birmingham visit Tempest Records or check out www.oki-ni.com. Street Fighter IV will be available from February the 20th on Xbox and PS3.

Not only that, but we have a film, ‘The Legend of Chun-Li’, to look forward to this year starring Kristin Kreuk of Smallville fame. She also recently starred in ‘Partition’ opposite Jimi Mistry, a film I was subjected to during a particularly long and uncomfortable bus journey across Argentina. It did nothing to comfort me.

Fused have 2 copies of the vinyl to give away.

Just email us the name of a band that took their name from Street Fighter to comps@fusedmagazine.com and the first answer pulled out of our sumo wrestler nappy wins.

Include your name, address and date of birth to. Please put ‘Streetfighter’ in the subject box.

Deadline for entries is Noon on Monday 2nd February, 2009.
